Science & Technology

The scientific input for skill up-gradation and technological advancement are the basic requirement of any developmental programme in order to increase productivity, improve quality, cost efficiency an in turn the wages of artisans/entrepreneur.

In KVIC, Research and Development (R&D) activities started since very beginning and efforts have been made to diversify and upgrade the technology involved in the production of KVI product to ensure the quality of the product. The development of new model charkha, improved looms under Khadi Programme and number of technological intervention developed in manufacturing of Village Industries products are the results of R&D efforts.


At present, the programme is being implemented through the State Offices of KVIC and number of Technical Interfaces established at the premier technological Institute/university and expert individual of the county, apart from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization (MGIRI), Wardha, Central Bee Research and Training Institute (CBRTI) Pune, Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute (KNHPI) Jaipur, and the good KVI Institutions having technical /scientific background. R&D Projects are also sponsored to Any Directly Aided Institution of KVIC/KVIB/reputed registered NGOs/Premier Technical Institutes/ Universities/any R&D organizations/Individuals.

    This Directorate has developed and implementing the following programmes:

  • ISO 9001-2008 Certification for KVI Sector Including KVIC establishments.
